Trash cans are a necessity in any kitchen no matter how large or small it might be. It helps us to contain the amount of trash that we accrue throughout the week until it is taken away from our home for good. Without it we would have messy homes that smell horrible. The one problem that we have with them is how dirty they are.
When children are throwing garbage away they do not think about the amount of germs that are contained inside of one garbage bag. Many of us do not even consider how many of those germs linger behind on the lid around the front portion of the trash can. This means that whenever we touch them to open them or even throw things away we might graze it and then spread it to everything and everyone we touch.
It is a breeding ground for so many germs and no one wants something like that in their home – but we do not have a choice. One of the only ways to keep from spreading those germs around is to purchase a touchless kitchen trash can. There are two types the automatic and the manual.
Automatic
The automatic are the more expensive models that will cost $60 to $120. These are usually made with stainless steel and are lightweight. Each one are designed with an AC adapter that will plug into any outlet. It is designed with an infrared sensor that will open the lid anytime your hand or trash comes within six inches of it. After a few seconds it will close.
With the use of the sensor you will never have to touch the lid or even the rim of the trash can. Also the lid helps to keep it firmly in place and to shut out any smells. Most of these are designed with a special button that you can press if the sensor does not seem to be working.
Manual
The manual touches kitchen trash cans come in plastic, wooden, or stainless steel designs. These are much more affordable and will cost you as low as $40. These are the most common touchless can you will find and will open using a pedal on the bottom of the trash can. When you step on the pedal it will open the lid.
