The kitchen trash can is not the most pleasant thing to have in our kitchen – but it is a necessity. All the cooking that we do causes a build up in garbage and we need a secure place to put it. As useful as it might be many of us don’t want the trash can sitting out in the kitchen for everyone to see.
In most homes the garbage can might look nice – but it gives off such a hideous odor that could drive in our pets away. The best thing you can do is to find a way to keep it hidden.
Cabinets
One of the best places to hide it is in your cabinets. You can put a small one underneath the kitchen sink where it is easy to get to – but not near anything you cook with. If you don’t mind spending a bit of money you can try to install a pull out drawer. This is large enough for a medium sized can to fit into. It will hide it and trap any odors coming from it.
Pantry
The pantry is a useful place in the kitchen and many people will use it to hide their trash can. Closet pantries are usually too mall and have too many shelves – but a walk in pantry has plenty of floor space for you to use. The only downside to this is that it will be surrounded by food you eat and could attract bugs.
Box
When in doubt you can always box it up! Purchase an upright trash can storage container that will hide it. All you have to do is paint it the colors of the cabinets so that it blends in. You could also spend $50 and buy a trash can that looks nice on the outside and that has a secure lid to keep odors from escaping.
